Socialist architecture

One of the remaining examples of socialist architecture on Karl-Marx Allee in Berlin is Kino International. Designed by German architect Josef Kaiser and opened 15th november 1963, till 1989 the cinema hosted premieres in the GDR.

A characteristic open space with glass surfaces faces the street

The theater was designed as a three-story reinforced concrete frame construction with light sandstone façades. The front façade consists of the big glass surface suspended over the ground and closed by the side surfaces decorated with rich reliefs.
